About the Consulate General

The Consulate General of Sweden in New York represents Sweden in the United States, specifically in the New York area. Its broad mission is to provide assistance to Swedes and to promote Swedish interests in the United States.

The Consul General
Alf Karlsson is the acting Consul General of Sweden in New York.  His assistant is Gunilla Forsberg.

Legal and Consular Affairs
This section handles issues related to passports, visas, work and residence permits, citizenship, legal matters and emergency assistance.

Cultural and Public Affairs
This section facilitates cultural exchange, promotes Swedish culture and provides information about Sweden to the press and the general public. 

Economic and Commercial Affairs
This section facilitates commercial exchange and promotes Swedish companies and business ventures in the U.S.

Administrative Section
This section handles all administrative and financial matters for the Consulate General as well as for the Permanent Mission of Sweden to the United Nations.
