Since 1991, official documents issued in Sweden should be legalized/certified by the Egyptian Embassy in Stockholm, in order to become valid in Egypt.
The legalization/certification procedure is as follows:
• An official document issued in Sweden, is to be legalized/certified first by a Swedish Notary Public; • The document should then be presented to the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, which legalizes the signature of the Notary Public; • The stamp and signature of the Ministry are then to be legalized/certified by the Egyptian Embassy in Stockholm, whereafter the document is valid in Egypt.
For the above, a legalization/certification from the Embassy of Sweden in Cairo is neither possible nor necessary.
The Embassy can only legalize/certify signatures of authorized officials with the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This is only done when a document issued and certified in Egypt shall be made valid in Sweden.
