Consulate of Sweden in Phuket

The Swedish official representation in Phuket does, as of 1 May 20008, consist of a Consulate, instead of a General Consulate. The Embassy in Bangkok and the Consulate in Phuket took over the responsibility for consular matters on 1st May, 2008.

Khun Wichit Na-Ranong is the Honorary Consul for Sweden in Phuket from 1st May, 2008.

Two consular officers from the Consulate General are employed at the new Consulate.

The new Consulate is located in the same premises as the old Consulate General.
Address to the Consulate of Sweden in Phuket.

The Consulate will be able to assist in matters such as:

  • issuance of various certificates
  • issuance of provisional passports
  • delivery of Swedish ordinary passports
  • delivery of Swedish driving licences
  • delivery of bank/credit cards
  • assisting Swedish nationals in distress, in jail or are ill
  • assisting in death cases

Regarding visas to Sweden for Thai nationals the Consulate General has received applications from applicants who have already visited Sweden before and sent them to the Embassy in Bangkok for decision. The Consulate General has also returned the passport to the applicant after a visa has been granted. Whether the new Consulate will be able to assist in the same manner is not yet known.

Lately, the activity in the visa field has increased heavily and the trend is that even greater numbers of visa applications will be submitted. An investigation covering the whole region is, therefore, taking place with the aim of trying to find out and introduce the most effective application process.
