What should you think of if you decide to travel to Iraq against the Ministry's travel recommendations?

  • Check your insurance - insurance companies can/will restrict the insurances if the Ministry for Foreign Affairs recommend against travelling to Iraq.
  • Read the Ministry's and the Embassies websites.
  • Keep yourself well informed when on site by following the newscasts and the local newspapers.
  • Avoid crowds or other gatherings of people and places/sites that might have been warned for.
  • Keep in touch with relatives on a regular basis.
  • Inform the Swedish Embassy (by e-mail or fax) that you are visiting Iraq. Give your name, social security number, contact address, telephone number and date of arrival and departure. You can use the form on the right side and e-mail it to ambassaden.bagdad@foreign.ministry.se.
    The Embassy will keep this information only for the period the traveller is in Iraq - no register will be saved at the Embassy or used for other purposes.
