The email should include: • Full name and nationality of the applicant(s): • Birth date• Passport number (for Iraqi citizens only G passports are accepted): • Address and telephone number to the applicant • Name and civil registration number (personnummer) of the sponsor in Sweden. • Relationship to the sponsor.
When the Embassy has received your email, we will book a date for the interview. When you come to the Embassy for the interview, you must bring a complete application together with money for the application fee. If you chose to present yourself at the embassy you will also be given a future date for the interview. Please send only one email.
We will answer the email in the order they arrive. This can sometimes take a few days.
You can only apply at one Swedish foreign mission at a time. If the Embassy finds out that you have already submitted an application at another Embassy or Consulate, you risk having your interview cancelled.
We don’t accept applications from people living in any other country than Turkey or Iraq. If you live in Azerbadzjan, please contact the Consulate of Sweden in Baku. Your application have to include the following documents
Requirements for an application for residence permit for Turkish citizens:• Two sets of the application form. Make sure you fill in all the particulars on the form. You should also ensure that you supply the correct address to your relative(s) in Sweden.• Two [2] photographs in color of passport style and size [35 x 45 mm] for all applicants, including minors. The photographs must be of true likeness and not older than two months. • Copy of relevant pages in passport (personal information page, stamps and visas)• Extract from Swedish population register, “Personbevis”, for sponsor in Sweden• Extract of Turkish family book (nüfus) showing civil status, parents, spouse, children and siblings and official translation to English or Swedish. The documents should not be older than three (3) months. • Marriage certificate• If divorced, the original divorce document and official translation to English or Swedish• Parental consent in original from both sides of parents for the minors (age under 18). This documents should be stamped by notary public and official translation to English or Swedish. • Application fee

What does it cost to apply?
You may be required to pay an application fee. The fee for immediate family members is 90 TL for adults and 45 TL for children. For more information please refer to the Swedish Migration Board’s website. If your application is denied, the fee will not be refunded. Who decides on my case?
The Embassy sends your application to the Migration Board in Sweden for decision. The residence permit must be entered in your passport before your arrival in Sweden. You cannot travel to Sweden and wait for a decision there.
How long will I have to wait for a decision?
It can take a long time for a decision to be reached.
When the interview has taken place, the Embassy forwards your application to the Migration Board in Sweden for a decision. This may take up to four weeks. The Migration Board then makes additional enquiries, either by inviting the relative in Sweden to a personal interview or by sending him/her a questionnaire by post. The questions must be answered in writing and sent back to the Migration Board.
