Work in Sweden

Swedes, foreign citizens already living in Sweden and EU/EEA citizens have preference over others in obtaining work in Sweden.

If the offer of work is for more than three months you will also require a Swedish residence permit.

If you will be in Sweden for less than three months, you will not require a residence permit. You may, however, require an entry visa. Information about which citizens are required to have entry visas and more information on visas is found on the page 'Visa for visiting Sweden'.

• 2 sets of application forms (Form MIGR 103031) duly completed and signed.
  
  
• 2 sets of Appendix D (Family appendix for applicant).
  
  
• 2 recent passport size colour photographs, full face, with white background (no more than 3 months old). Do not staple the photos to the application form.
  
  
• Valid passport along with 2 photocopies of relevant pages in passport (bio data, endorsements and extension pages). Passport must be valid for the whole period of working.
  
  
• Earn enough from employment to support yourself.
  
  
• Your employer must have advertised the job vacancy in Sweden and the EU.
  
  
• Your employer must offer terms of employment equivalent to a Swedish collective agreement or customary terms for the occupation or industry.
  
  
• Your employer must give the relevant union an opportunity to state an opinion on the terms of the offer of employment.
  
  
• You must be fully prepared to leave Sweden when your term of employment is over.

Note:
All legal documents must be translated in English. All the supporting documents including the legal documents mentioned above have to be submitted in two sets of photocopies. One set of the photocopies have to be certified first by the First class Magistrate and then attested by the Consular section of Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The application is forwarded to the Migration Board in Sweden for decision. The application must be submitted at least 8 weeks before the estimated date of arrival in Sweden.
