Electronic Applications

If you are applying for a work permit in Sweden it is now possible to apply directly through the website of the Swedish Migration Board. The electronic applications have been developed in order to make the process of applying easier. It is no longer possible to apply for residence permit for studies electronically.

The following applications can be made through the Internet:

  • All work permits, first time applications as well as extensions (permits for self-employed persons excluded)

  • Residence Permit for Visiting Researchers

The applicant can submit the application as well as pay the fee and enclose passport copies and other documents through the Migration Board website.

Please note: To apply with an electronic application you must be able to pay the application fee by VISA, Mastercard or American Express! If you do not have any of these, please apply directly to the Consulate. You cannot apply through the Internet and then pay the fee at the Consulate.

This applies to employees who apply for temporary residence and work permits only. For applications due to family ties the applications should still be submitted directly to the Consulate.
