Swedish Passport Application and Name Registration

Passport application procedures have been changed. As of January 1, 2008, all passport applicants in Canada must be digitally photographed on site at the Embassy at the time of the application. As of June 28, 2009 fingerprints are also mandatory. Applications may no longer be submitted at the Honorary Consulates. Passport applicants must apply in person at the Embassy in Ottawa by appointment only.

Different instructions and requirements apply for renewal of passport for adults, renewal of passport for children under 18 and for children under 18 with no previous Swedish passport.

Children or other applicants who do not already have a Swedish passport must be added to the Swedish Population Register and must have a coordination number before applying.

The application fee is to be paid at the time of application and can be paid in cash or by Visa/Mastercard.  Please see the Fee List under Facts for current fee.

The new passport may be picked up at the Embassy or any Swedish Consulate in Canada after approximately 2 weeks.
