Sourcebook of Scandinavian Furniture by Judith Gura

The countries known collectively as Scandinavia have been the source of some of the most important furniture designs of the twentieth century.  Today, a new generation of designers continues that tradition, creating pieces that are functional, comfortable, and visually appealing.

This book updates the history of design in the Nordic countries and illustrates more than 500 examples of the best current furniture from over 70 producers, most in full color.  It also includes detailed product specifications and sources, biographies of important Nordic designers, and a comprehensive bibliography.  The book will appeal to everyone with an interest in modern furniture, as well as designers, architects, collectors, and students with a special interest in Scandinavian design.

Judith Gura is a professor at the New York School of Interior Design, where she directs the design history program, and an associate professor at Pratt Institute. A specialist in Scandinavian design, she writes frequently on the subject for a number of publications.
