Which are the supported sectors?

2007
The total amount planned for 2007 is SEK 50 million. The distribution of this amount will be decided upon in the course of the year. To date, the following contributions have been decided for 2007:

  • Support to the National Reconciliation Congress (via UNDP), 2 MSEK
  • Somalia Support Secretariat, 2 MSEK
  • Support to the celebration of the International Women’s Day 2007 by Somali women (via UNDP), 145,000 SEK
  • Interpeace, 10 MSEK

2006
A total amount of SEK 34,5 million (approximately USD 5 million) was allocated for development cooperation in 2006, of which 33 million were actually disbursed. Some of the agreed amounts could not be disbursed due to a variety of factors including the political and security developments in the Somali region. The support disbursed comprises contributions to international organizations and NGOs and was approximately distributed as follows by sectors:

  • Education
  • HR, Good Governance and Peace Building
  • Coordination
  • Livelihoods
  • Demining
  • Security

In 2006, the Swedish support was channelled through the following organisations:
