José González: New Album and U.S. Tour

The Swedish musician José González releases his second full-length album and embarks on a North American tour in September 2007.

A Swedish-raised folk singer of Argentinean descent, José González sings mesmerizing, intimate songs that have seduced fans around the world.  His poetic finger-picked acoustic guitar playing is informed as much by his upbringing on classical guitar as the bossa nova and acoustic Cuban music his father played at home.

Relying simply on his own eloquent classical guitar and a voice that marries mature assuredness with poignant delicacy, González creates an inimitable sonic world of powerful allure. His emotional melodies and thought-provoking lyrics – all sung in crystalline English – combine in a manner at once familiar (evoking Nick Drake, Tim Buckley, Will Oldham) and exotic (shades of Brazilian Tropicalia, flamenco, even the odd trace of Pampas tango). From these disparate sources, González has conjured a unique and bewitching sound all his own.

His new album is entitled In Our Nature and will be released by Mute Records on September 26.

The tour begins with three concerts in New York City, at Manhattan's Gramercy Theatre on September 27 and 28 and the Music Hall of Williamsburg on September 29.
