Residence Permits for Studies in Sweden – Students from Afghanistan

You must submit your application personally. Please bring the following documents:
  • 2 sets of correctly and fully completed Application Forms [Form No 1 05031 for main applicant and 135011 for co-applicants].

  • Fee deposit slip.

  • Two passport size photographs. The photos must be: full face (facing the camera directly with your eyes looking straight at the camera), colour with a light background, no more than six months old and a good likeness of you, bareheaded, unless you have special religious reasons.

  • Original passport and identity card.

  • 2 copies of 2nd,3rd, 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th pages of the passport and 2 of Tazkira; (in family passports the copies of 5th, 6th and ih pages of the passport and in new passport copy of last page is also required).

  • Acceptance letter issued by the University/College in Sweden - original with a photo-copy.

  • Certificate of leave of absence/ educational leave (where relevant) - original with a photo-copy.

  • 2 copies of your own Bank Statements (both the originals) showing that you have enough money to support yourself throughout the entire planned study period. (Proof that you can support
    yourself must be provided, e g in the form of some kind of documentation certifying your own bank assets, documentation certifying that you have received a scholarship or in some other similar
    manner). You are required to show that you will have SEK 7,300 per month at your disposal for 10 months/year.

  • Students applying for residence permit for less than one year. Le. one or two semesters, will from February 1, 2007 need a health insurance covering costs up to 30,000 EURO for urgent and other kinds of health care, hospitalization and costs for trips back home for medical reasons.

  • PKR 850 is expedition fee.

Note: The applicant must bring all documents to the Embassy with the application. The Embassy does not accept documents being mailed/fax/emailed to the Embassy.

Before you present your application you must deposit a non-refundable Residence Permit application fee of SEK
1,000 for main applicant, SEK 1000 for co-applicant (spouse) and SEK 500 for each accompanying child,
equivalent to Pakistani Rupees into' the embassy's CD bank account No: 2799-92 at Habib Bank Limited, Super Market, School Road Branch, F-6 Markaz, Islamabad. Bank deposit slips are available at the Embassy.

The visa section is open for visits Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 9.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon, and for telephone
enquiries 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Passport collection time is 4 :30 to 5:00 p.m. Visits and calls at other times will NOT be accepted.

Application forms are available at the Embassy free of charge. Forms can also be downloaded from the Embassy's website or can be collected at the Swedish Consulates in Pakistan.
