Research

Research cooperation between Swedish and South African research institutions is supported through a partnership programme, which is jointly funded and administered by the two governments.

Projects are selected jointly by the Swedish Research Council and the National Research Foundation in South Africa. South Africa and Sweden are sharing the cost of the programme.

Applications may concern any research field  but must come from researchers in both Sweden and South Africa.

In 2008, 24 new projects were granted support. The successful projects were mainly in the fields of natural science and technology, but also in areas such as social science and arts subjects.
