Objectives
The Facility objectives are to promote mutually beneficial actor-based cooperation in the area of environmental technology. One requirement for recognition under the Facility is that there be one, preferably Swedish, lead partner. This partner will be the signatory for all Agreements. Additionally interest from the Indian side should be provided either by stakeholders who would like to explore possible partnerships in the long run – either through market based relationships or technical assistance.
Who can apply
The Embassy of Sweden in New Delhi currently administers the Facility with input from Sida Headquarters. The Embassy of Sweden assesses the proposals submitted as per the criteria set out in the Environment Facility Guidelines. Projects that clear these criteria are then passed onto the Facility Joint Steering Committee for review and clearance.
Opportunities Available
A maximum of 75,000 SEK can be claimed for the purposes of a Planning Grant. This is to cover related to identification of possible partners in India and towards formulation of the final project goals.
If the planning results in a project, a maximum of 2.5 MSEK, valid for 2 years, can be claimed towards the project implementation. The projects should reflect joint ownership of both Indian and Swedish stakeholders, with the relevant approvals of local government and regulators.
Funds from the Indo-Swedish Environment Facility on Knowledge and Innovation are directed towards development of new knowledge on environmental issues in India and Sweden. The facility will support applied research, joint studies, and limited pilot sites. The facility cannot support commercial joint ventures, or be used towards the development of one-to-one business partnerships. Information produced as a result of Facility supported projects should be considered open to the public.
