House of Sweden

Water & Environment

A “chilling” display of ice sculptures, nature photography and paintings melted together with environmental discussions at House of Sweden during the highly topical spring theme of Water and Environment.

2007 was the International Polar Year. The main exhibit “Cold Poles -  Hot stuff” applied a learning-by-doing philosophy in teaching us more about the Arctic and Antarctic regions, at the same time as “Penguins” and “Wings over Northern Shores” offered visitors an illustrative experience of the wildlife in these extreme regions.

Water and Environment are two fundamental aspects for a functioning planet. Water, a necessity for survival, will be discussed from global, national, regional and local perspectives.

Sweden is a leader in environmental technology, and this theme was a forum for several conferences and seminars where experts from Sweden and the United States discussed environmental issues, climate research, sustainable building and other related subjects.
