About the Embassy and opening hours

Welcome to the Embassy of Sweden in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The Embassy opened in early 2002. It covers three countries in the Gulf region: The United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain and Qatar.

Visiting hours for all expeditions (incl. visas),
Sunday – Wednesday 09.00-12.00

Telephone calls relating to visa enquiries will be received Sunday – Wednesday 13.00–15.00 and Thursday 10.00-12.00.

Visiting hours for applications for Swedish passports (for Swedish citizens) are Monday and Wednesday 13.00-15.00 

Parking while visiting the Embassy
The parking lots outside the entrance of the Embassy are often full but in the garage opposite the entrance of the Embassy, empty spaces are usually found.

Procedure to apply for a Schengen Visa at the Embassy of Sweden

In order to eliminate waiting times and long queues at the Embassy for those who apply for visa or residence/work permit for Sweden, the Embassy has introduced a new procedure for booking appointments via e-mail: ambassaden.abu-dhabi-visum@foreign.ministry.se or phone number: +971-2-417 88 88. The phone will be open for bookings Sunday – Wednesday between 13:00-15:00 and  Thursday between 10:00-12:00.

The applicant will then receive an appointment and further information on the application process.

The waiting time for the appointment at the Embassy will be approximately one week.

Normally, a decision will be made within one- two weeks from the application date. But during high season the waiting times can be longer.
