In order to celebrate the Carl Linnaeus tercentenary, the Embassy of Sweden and its partner organisations are planning a wide-spanning programme across the UK. It is especially important to mark the work of Linnaeus in the UK due to the fact that a large part of Linnaeus' collection of specimen is held at the Linnean Society of London, situated in Burlington House in Piccadilly. The following projects are coordinated by the Embassy of Sweden and its partners:

FEBRUARY

10 – 25 February
Show: Classified! Zoological Society of London (London Zoo) celebrates the life and world of Linnaeus in a show involving live animals.

19 – 23 March
Daily 10 am - 5pm. Exhibition: The Return of Linnaeus Apostles (by The IK Foundation) at The Royal Geographical Society, 1 Kensington Gore.

6.30pm - 7.15pm.
Natural Science Schools Project Linnaeus. Content: "Schools Project Linnaeus" started in Sweden during the Tercentenary Year 2007. The aim is to inspire and stimulate schools all around the world to take an interest in Linnaeus and the natural sciences, provide inspiration and ideas which can be used by all teachers in cross-cutting science and society work. Film screening of Linné – An Ordered Mind (by Swedish Television/ Otto Fagerstedt). Content: Linnaeus - An Ordered Mind is a new docudrama about Linnaeus' world and aspirations. The film will be introduced by the scriptwriter. Lecturer: Sverker Sörlin, Professor, Division of History of Science and Technology at the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden.
