Requirements for a Business visa to Sweden – Non UAE nationals (last updated 12 October 2008)

General information

The Embassy will need:
– 7 days to process the visa for nationals who do not need consultation
– 14 days for nationals who do need a consultation

The visa is personal and the application must therefore be handed in to the Embassy in person by the applicant. If the applicant is not able to collect the passport, after the visa decision is taken, the applicant must write a Letter of Authority for the person who will collect the passport on the his or hers behalf

A completed application is not equal to an granted visa. Other documentation, than the one listed below, might be requested at any point.

Required documentation

All documents should be submitted in English. All original documents need to be shown to the Embassy when submitting any copies:

  • Application for Schengen visa together with the appendixes should be filled in completely and signed by each applicant.

  • Appendix A and D should to be filled in by the applicant and submitted in original along with the application of the applicant.

  • Copy of the applicant’s passport which has to be valid for six months after the date of entry.

  • Copy of the applicant’s Emirati residence permit. The residence permit has to be valid at least six months from the date of entry.

  • Two recent photographs of the applicant, with white background, facing straight into the camera.

  • Copy of travel arrangements including a booked return. Please note that the Embassy do not require the ticket to be paid at the day of applying.

  • Proof of accommodation/hotel reservation in Sweden.

  • If the applicant is employed: Conformation letter in original (in English) from the applicant’s employer; stating salary and financial arrangements. The letter also needs to state the applicant's current employment/work, date of joining the company, as well as stating the purpose of the visit.

  • If the applicant is self-employed: Copy of the applicant's company’s trade license.

  • Invitation letter from the business partner in Sweden mentioning duration, purpose and financial arrangements of the visit/stay. The invitation letter from the business partner in Sweden must be signed by a person at that company/organization whom has the authority to sign invitations. The Embassy in Abu Dhabi also requires that the person signing the letter clearly state his/her title and phone number etc. Preferably the invitation letter from the business partner in Sweden should be stamped with the inviting company/organizations stamp.

  • If the Swedish company is small or medium sized, documentation from the Swedish tax authorities is requested.

  • Each applicant must have a Travel insurance & a Medical insurance valid for all Schengen countries worth EURO 30 000. The insurance do not have to be purchased and submitted to the embassy until the collection of the passport after the visa decision is taken.

Important information after a visa is granted

  • Travellers from countries outside of the EU will have to show documents on the border which verify that they have enough money to fulfil the financial requirements of the Schengen countries.

  • A granted valid visa does not automatically entitle the holder to enter the Schengen area. An examination of the visitor's right to enter the Schengen area will be made by the authorities at the border.
