Family members of EU/EEA nationals (spouses and dependents) can apply for an EU-family visa.

Please bring the following documents:

  • Application for Schengen Visa – to be completed, signed and dated.

  • Two (2) recent (not older than 6 months) passport photographs of the applicant on white background.

  • Passports (applicant's and EU-spouse's).

  • Original Marriage Certificate/ Birth Certificate (children under 18 must have their birth certificate with them). Marriage and full birth certificates issued outside the UK and Sweden must be duly translated into English and legalized either by Consulate/Embassy of origin country or accompanied by an apostille.

  • Children travelling alone or with one parent must have letter of consent and proof of ID of both parents or the none travelling parent. In the absence of consent letter only sole custody and residence orders from the courts will be accepted.

  • Photocopies of the passports, UK residence permit and Marriage Certificate.

  • If you are married to a Swedish citizen, you have to enclose an extract from the Swedish population registration, which can be obtained from the Swedish Tax Agency (www.skatteverket.se).

  • Please bring a pre-paid special delivery envelope from the post office with you as we will return all passports by post. Otherwise a postage fee will be charged.

There is no visa fee for EU/EEA-spouses and their children (under 21), registered partners and co-habiting partners of EU/EEA nationals (does not apply for co-habiting partners of Swiss citizens). The original Marriage Certificate or original full Birth Certificate with parents' names must be submitted together with spouse's/parent's original passport.

According to the EU Directive 38/2004 family members of EEA nationals who are in possession of a British "Residence Card of a family member of an EEA national" or "Permanent Residence Card" do not need a visa for visits up to 90 days to Sweden and many other EU member states.
