Swedish Fashion in Manhattan Boutiques

For an entire year, from the fall of 2006, the cutting-edge Manhattan clothing boutique Opening Ceremony is featuring selected items by more than a dozen of Sweden's foremost young fashion designers. The brand new Scandinavian design store [hus] also introduces a number of Swedish fashion brands to the West Village.

Opening Ceremony is recognized for its innovative concept and design aesthetic. Each year the SoHo-based boutique selects a country to feature in the store and then carefully chooses 15 to 20 top contemporary designers.

Fashion-forward New Yorkers are already flocking to the store to pick up exclusive items from Swedish designers such as Acne, Whyred, Cheap Monday, Rodebjer, Lovisa Burfitt, Mini Market, Hope, Velour, Ulrika Sandström, Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair, Nakkna, Carin Wester, Pour Homme, Pour Femme and others.  While a few of the above already have an audience in the U.S. market, most are being introduced for the first time and will be exclusive to Opening Ceremony for the entire year.

In other retail news, the Scandinavian design store [hus] just opened its doors on Christopher Street in the West Village, offering a wide variety of clothing, jewelry, music and design items.  Featured Swedish fashion brands include Tiger of Sweden, Filippa K, Nudie Jeans, WeSC and Tretorn.  [hus] also offers exclusive women's clothing from Stockholm boutique Tjallamalla as well as men's and women's jewelry by Swedish designer Efva Attling.
