I order to apply for a Schengen visa at the Embassy of Sweden in Damascus you must book an appointment. This has to be done through e-mail.

Clients without an appointment will not be allowed to enter the visa section. Passport or id-documents will be checked before anyone can enter.

You should book an appointment at least eight weeks before your planned journey.

About visas and visa praxis

A visa is a permit to enter and stay in Sweden/the Schengen area for a short time. However, there is no absolute right to receive such a permit. If the Embassy does not consider it probable that the sole purpose of the journey is a short visit, and it appears that the intention may instead be residence, an entry visa must not be granted. The application will then be rejected.

Additional information regarding rules and conditions for visa to Sweden and other Schengen countries can be found on the Swedish Migration Board web page: www.migrationsverket.se

Frequently asked questions

I have booked an appointment but want to have an earlier date.

The Embassy can normally only grant earlier appointments in very urgent cases. It’s the responsibility of the applicant to make an appointment well in advance of the planned trip. During high season (Christmas, Easter and May-July) up to ten weeks should be calculated from the time you ask for an appointment.

Can I send documents like invitation directly to the Embassy?

No, the Embassy doesn’t want documents to be sent to us by fax, e-mail or post. There is a great risk the documents will not arrive and that the application will be rejected since it’s often hard to locate the corresponding application from an incoming document. We want the application to be complete at the time when the application is filed.
