  • Citizenship Matters: The Participation of Young Women and Minorities in Euro-Med Youth Projects

The seminar "Citizenship Matters: The Participation of Young Women and Minorities in Euro-Med Youth Projects", took place at the Swedish Institute in Alexandria, Egypt, 19 –29 April 2004.

This report deals with two fundamental dimensions of human life: the individual's right to recognition, security and protection - necessary prerequisites in order for each and every one of us to be able to live 'unique and free'; and the right for collectives of various kinds - ethnie or religious groups, nations and minority groups alike - to be heard and listened to in an unbiased and harmonious dialogue: the tree and the forest." With these words, Ingrid Ramberg Leads us into the proceedings of the training seminar on participation of women and minorities in Euro-Med youth projects.

(This Publication is available for order in English and will be soon available in Arabic)

  • Youth Policy - Here and Now!

The seminar “Youth Policy – Here and now”, took place at the Swedish Institute in Alexandria, 11-14 September, 2005. It was organized by the Ministry of Youth in Egypt, the Council of Europe – through the Youth Partnership with the European Commission - and the Swedish National Board for Youth Affairs and the Swedish Institute in Alexandria. This report is a summary of the different sessions and questions discussed during the seminar. We hope it can serve as an informative background for future cooperation within youth policy development both in Europe and in the Middle East/Mediterranean countries. Young people are the future! And the present!

  • Youth and the Media

An old saying goes: "the truth shall come from the mouths of children". If that is so, and if the adult world has reasons to fear the truth - then we can understand why youth and children are so often objectified in the media.
The seminar “Youth and the Media”, took place at the Swedish Institute in Alexandria, 25-27 May, 2004. This report is from an interregional meeting of people who combine professional expertise and hands-on experience with personal commitment to the rights of youth and children. The seminar not only diagosticized the problems with contemporary media practices, but also demontrated how young people can give valuable contributions if given a genuine chance by journalists.
