The Embassy of Sweden in the Republic of Croatia receives inquieries about learning Swedish. On this page you will find useful information about Swedish language courses.

The most recent information about the possibilities to study Swedish as a foreign language in Sweden can be found at the Learn Swedish part of the webpage Study in Sweden. The Embassy also receives questions about where Swedish can be learnt in Croatia. Please contact local Language schools about this or the Faculty of Philisophy Language School in Zagreb.

The Embassy receives regularly information about summer courses in Swedish. We will inform about these courses as soon as we receive them.

Uppsala International Summer Session, UISS, organizes summer courses taught in English and Swedish. The language courses are taught 20-28 hours/week and the courses about Swedish culture, history and society 12 hours/week. More information in the Facts box.

ISU (International Swedish University) Programs in Lund, has organized Swedish language courses for international students for over 30 years. The summer language program provides an excellent opportunity to come and learn Swedish while also discovering Swedish culture and society. ISU Programs offers two 3-week sessions during the summer, starting in June or July. New from summer 2009 is a 2-week course in August. The course levels range from beginner to the advanced fluency level, corresponding to the language scale as defined by the Council of Europe A1+ to B2+ level. The course includes language instruction, guest lectures, museum visits and excursions. More information in the Facts box.

Courses in Swedish are offered in Göteborg, at the Folkuniversitetet, in June, July and August. More information in the Facts box.

SWEDEX is an international certificate in Swedish as a foreign language. It can be taken in Sweden or abroad and is an independent certificate one can take regardless of how one learnt Swedish. It consists of two different examinations at the level A2 and B1 on the Council of Europe level of attainment scales. At both levels all language skills are tested, with an emphasis on communication competence. More information at the SWEDEX webpage (see Facts box).
