Swedish Music Showcase Introduces Five Swedish Acts to the U.S.

Export Music Sweden and the Consulate General of Sweden in New York are set to present five Swedish acts in a music showcase on March 18 at the legendary CBGB's in New York City. The bands will also perform at the music festival South by Southwest in Austin on March 16–17, 2006.

Peter von Poehl is an ex-pat Swedish indie phenomenon, recently relocated from Paris to Berlin, where he has built an underground following and is set to release his first LP of delicate pop gems, carefully crafted with a beautiful tenor voice and soft guitars.

Ane Brun is the uncrowned singer-songwriter queen of Sweden, where her career is rapidly taking off.  Since her stunning debut ”Spending Time with Morgan” in 2003, she has been playing to full houses on her frequent tours in Europe and was nominated for a Swedish Grammy 2006 for best female pop artist.

Whyte Seeds appeared like a breath of fresh air on the Swedish rock scene three years ago, with a debut EP produced by Kalle Gustafsson of The Soundtrack of Our Lives. They play a vibrant mix of rock'n'roll and psychedelia, powered by excellent songwriting and a sharp sense of melody.

Loney, Dear is an experimental indie pop ensemble, whose members perform in constellations ranging from one to nine, led by 26-year-old multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer Emil Svanängen.  His melancholic arrangements, brittle pop melodies and ethereal harmonies of voices, horns and strings have swept the Stockholm indie scene off its feet.

Quit Your Dayjob is a band that defies categorization, a self-described nuclear bomb exploding with wild electro punk surf and raw energy, inviting you to join the army of freaks in the fight against everyday boredom.
