SWEA has existed in Dubai since October 2001. Today, there are more than 130 members in the Emirates to form a valuable network of women promoting Sweden and Swedish culture, through for example organizing traditional Swedish celebrations, such as the National day, Lucia and Crayfish party.
Moreover, the program committee is working hard to provide an interesting array of social activities including study groups, lectures, cooking classes, try out golf sessions and a lot more. Every second Sunday there is a get together at a specific café and once a month there is a film-screening.
SWEA Dubai distributes its own SWEA Dubai Magazine, which is edited twice a year and also provides the members with a “Medlemdsblad” where all the latest information can be found.
SWEA is an important platform for all newcomers and people planning to move to Dubai or any of the other emirates. A special team of “godmothers” (faddergruppen), is always available to answer whatever questions you as a Swedish expatriate family might have; where to find appropriate schools for the kids, where to find certain products, what is life like in the Emirates, and so on. SWEA Dubai is therefore an essential platform to get the whole family settled and feeling at home when starting a new assignment in the UAE.
