Helena Janzén is the winner of the 2004 International Opera Singers Competition. She began her vocal studies at The Sibelius Academy in Stockholm and has given concerts in Scandinavia, Italy, Germany and Spain. Composer Rolf Martinsson wrote Silvernatten, a 45-minute symphonic poem for soprano, for her which she premiered at Malmö Concert Hall with the Malmö Symphony Orchestra. The International Opera Singers Competition was founded in 1983 to assist the most talented singers with their careers and to encourage contestants to become familiar with contemporary opera written in English.
