How to apply for a visa
The visa section is open for the public Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday between 09.00-11.00. You do not have to book an appointment in advance in order to hand in your application at the Embassy. However it is important that you have obtained and filled out relevant application forms and additional required documents when handing in your application.

Work in Sweden

Information for citizens of Montenegro or Serbia that wish to apply for a work permit in Sweden

If you would like to work in Sweden you have to have a work permit. If you plan to work in Sweden for longer than three months you will also need a residence permit.

Requirements to be granted a work permit

To be granted a permit requires that:
you have a valid passport.
you can earn your own living.
you work to such an extent that your wage is at least SEK 13,000 per month.
In addition your employer must:
have advertised the post in Sweden and the EU for at least ten days. (For new recruitment.)
offer terms of employment that are equal to those of a Swedish collective agreement or what is customary within the profession or sector
give the relevant union organizations the opportunity to express an opinion on the terms of employment in the job offer.

Applying for a work permit

You can apply electronically, on the web page of the Migration board:
www.migrationsverket.se

or at Embassy of Sweden in Belgrade.

Make sure your application is complete. All the documents have to be in original and copies of the documents have to be brought. Please find application forms on this page to the right.
In order to apply, you have to bring the following:

- Passport + two photocopies of the first page. If you owned a passport before this one, the old passport should be brought as well + two copies.
- Two photographs, size for the passport (35x40 mm)
- Two forms ’Application for Swedish work permit’
- If you are a holder of “blue” Yugoslavian passport certificate of your citizenship is necessary
- Filled out offer of employment in original, „Anställningserbjudande“, filled by your employer.

Fee for this application is 17.600 RSD. The fee should be paid in dinars on the day of application in the Embassy and only exact amount is  accepted.

Important information:  In case of positive decision, if you still have the old „blue“ Yugoslavian passport, the dates on the permit cannot be longer than 31st December 2010.

Permits for family members

Your family may be granted residence permits for the same period that you were granted residence and work permits for. If the employment is to be for more than six months, family members can also be granted work permits.
 
Family members include:
husband/wife or common law spouse
children of yours under 21 or of your husband/wife or common law spouse.


If you have children who are 21 or older they must be dependent on you or your husband/wife or common law spouse for support in order to be granted a residence permit.
