About the Embassy

In addition to Japan, the Ambassador of Sweden in Tokyo is accredited to Micronesia, the Marshall Islands and to Palau.

The new Embassy was opened in 1991. It has become an appreciated place for Swedes in Tokyo to get together at, and a centre for the work of various bodies - from acting as a meeting place for large Swedish companies to providing space for a small choir to rehearse.

The exhibition hall and the auditorium, immediately next to the entrance, offer the chance to host various cultural events and various kinds of seminars. The auditorium can easily be adapted to use as a theatre and has been the venue for guest performances.

Much of the old embassy site which was sold off became parkland. However, there is also a condensed garden creating a path around parts of the building and on the terrace outside the residence and on the roof of the auditorium.
