Trade with Malaysia

Malaysia is one of Sweden's largest trade partners in Southeast Asia.

In 2006 the Swedish export to Malaysia was approximately 1.6 billion MYR and the import from Malaysia approximately 0.7 billion MYR. Swedish exports to Malaysia consists of telecommunication equipment, motor vehicles, chemical products, power generating machinery and equipment, machines, paper, as well as iron ore and steel. On the other hand, Swedish imports from Malaysia consists of electronics and electrical components, machinery and apparatus, textiles, palm oil and raw rubber.

There is potential for increased trade between Sweden and Malaysia. The positive image of Sweden in Malaysia is an important factor when promoting Swedish industries in Malaysia for example ICT, biotechnology, environment, manufacturing, and road safety. Also in the field of defence equipment there are significant opportunities for growth in our trade relations.
