About the Embassy

Welcome to the Embassy of Sweden in Damascus, Syria. The Embassy of Sweden in Damascus represents Sweden and administers the bilateral relations with Syria and Lebanon, including promoting Swedish interests in both countries.

The Embassy is responsible for maintaining and developing Sweden's relations with Syria and Lebanon in terms of political relations, economic and trade matters and cultural affairs. The embassy reports on political and economic development of both countries.

Migration and consular matters constitute an important share of the activities of the Embassy. The Embassy assists Swedish citizens in Syria and Lebanon. Citizens of Syria and Iraq who wish to visit Sweden can apply for an entry visa at the Embassy. The Embassy of Italy in Beirut is responsible for visa applications for citizens of Lebanon who wish to visit Sweden.

Visiting hours
Sunday-Wednesday 09.00 – 12.00. The Embassy is closed to the public on Thursdays.

Please note that an appointment made in advance is necessary for applications for visas and residence permits (see more information under the headings "Visit Sweden" and "Work & Live in Sweden" respectively in the left column).

The Embassy is open for visitors without any prior appointment on Wednesdays 13.00 – 15.00.

Visiting hours for passport applications
Sundays 13.30 – 15.00 and Thursdays 09.00 – 11.00.

Passports can be collected, unless otherwise agreed, on Tuesdays 09.00 – 15.00. Please note that the delivery time for passports is up to three weeks!

Please note that granted visas only can be collected on Mondays and Wednesdays and that this is unrelated to the visiting hours for passport applications. Concerning granted residence permits, the residence card can be collected on Mondays and Thursdays.
