Visa for visiting Sweden

In order to visit Sweden you may need a visa. A visa is a permit required for persons wishing to enter Sweden on a temporary visit, for example:
  • as a tourist
  • on business or for a conference
  • visiting relatives and friends, or
  • simply when passing through in transit

As per 1 September 2004, the Consulate General of Sweden in Los Angeles will issue vias for the following states: California, Alaska, Colorado, Hawaii, Nevada Arizona, Oregon, Utah, Washington State, New Mexico, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming.

If you are a resident of greater Washington DC area you should apply at
> the Embassy of Sweden in Washington DC

If you are a resident of any other state in the U.S., you should apply at
> the Consulate General of Sweden in New York

Applicants from Southern California, including San Diego, must apply in person at the Consulate General of Sweden in Los Angeles.

The Visa office at the Consulate General of Sweden in Los Angeles is open during the following hours:
