The purpose of Studyinsweden.se is to provide international students wishing to study in Sweden with a convenient and comprehensive information resource.

It contains general information on the opportunities open to international students, admission procedures and other practical details.

The service is designed for students at all levels. It provides information on undergraduate courses, Master's programmes and opportunities for researchers.

If you have been admitted to study in Sweden, as an exchange student or as a normal student, you will need to apply for a student visa. You can hand in your application at the Consulate General or the Embassy in the city you live in. For more information go to the studyinsweden website or the website of the Swedish Migration Board (both links on the right-hand side of this page).

Important information regarding applicants who have been conditionally admitted to a Swedish university/college

If you have been conditionally admitted to a Swedish university/college (it usually says on the letter of acceptance from VHS that “Your general eligibility is conditional: In order to begin your studies you must show that you fulfil the general requirement of  a completed academic degree comprising of at least 180 ECTS credits or equivalent” The requirements must be fulfilled and the appropriate credentials presented to the institution when the programme /course starts at the latest.") you should send your degree certificate/diploma to VHS in Sweden in order to get a new letter of admission that proves that you are now fully admitted, i.e. no longer conditionally admitted. You should not send your diploma to the Migration Board or the embassy. When you have received such a document from VHS it should be sent directly to the Migration Board or handed in to the embassy who will forward it to the Migration Board.

If you have received a refusal by the Migration Board you as well should send your degree certificate/diploma to VHS in Sweden in order to get a new letter of admission. You should appeal within three weeks after having been informed. Due to the limited amount of time we suggest you first send the appeal to the Migration Board. When you have received such a document from VHS it should be sent directly to the Migration Board or handed in to the embassy who will forward it to the Migration Board.
