Just Scandinavian: A Living Store For Living Homes

The brand new TriBeCa shop Just Scandinavian is one of the most beautiful design stores to open in Manhattan in recent years.

Proprietor Ann Ljungberg, a Swedish art historian and antiques expert, presents a personal and impeccably edited selection of classic and contemporary Scandinavian furniture, household products and home furnishings, many of them exclusive to the U.S. market.

The airy and loft-like 2500 sq. feet shop is set up as a living space with loosely divided sections for kitchen, bedroom and living room. The merchandise reflects the eclectic and slightly whimsical mix of old and new styles that is commonly found in fashionable Scandinavian homes.

For example, an exclusive 1930s Josef Frank sofa is accessorized with a casual, contemporary wool throw from textile manufacturer Klippan, and the dining table setting includes formal Georg Jensen silverware as well as radical concrete candleholders from small Swedish design company Fafner.

The displays will continuously change and rotate, treating customers to delightful new visual surprises and inspirations every time they visit the store.

One of the cornerstones of Ann Ljungberg’s concept for the shop is to feature objects in every price range. From lifetime investments such as the exclusive Josef Frank furniture for Svenskt Tenn to a spur-of-the-moment gift like a teacup by Anna Kraitz, Just Scandinavian features unique quality items for every budget.
