Designed in Sweden: From Minimal to Maximal in the New Millennium

The turn of the millennium has been a fascinating time in contemporary Swedish design. Sleek and streamlined silhouettes have evolved into bolder expressions and thought-provoking statements.

Young furniture designers are currently re-inventing the Scandinavian Modern legacy with warmth and humor, while the crafts community is infusing glass and ceramics with vivid colors and daring textures. The exciting new exhibition Designed In Sweden covers the current state of Swedish design by presenting a wide range of furniture, glass, ceramics, metalware and textile work by more than 60 contemporary designers.

Internationally established names like CKR and Ingegerd Råman are featured side by side with young artists like Front and David & Martin, whose products are being shown in New York for the first time. The show provides a unique opportunity for design aficionados to get a comprehensive view of the current trends of this dynamic and diverse design community.

The exhibition is held at Felissimo Design House, an extraordinary gallery space housed in a five-story, turn-of-the-century townhouse. Designed in Sweden will be shown in the building’s top two floors, and the exhibition design has been carefully conceived to compliment Felissimo’s unique and intimate layout.

The exhibition is curated by London-based author and journalist Bradley Quinn, who has also written the accompanying book Designed in Sweden, published by Arvinius Förlag.
