List of supporting documents

Please note that the Embassy may in individual cases request additional documents during the examination of an application which are not mentioned in the below list, or waive one or more of the requirements below.
  • Application for Schengen Visa, completed, signed and dated.
  • Family details, completed, signed and dated.
  • Passport or other travel document and copies of the first page, all pages with stamp and visas. The passport should be valid at least a further 3 months after the date of expiry of the visa. The passport must be issued within the last 10 years. It shall contain at least two blank pages.
  • One (1) photograph 35 x 45 mm in colour not older than one year. The photograph must show full face and taken against a plain, evenly lit and light background.
  • Flight or travel reservations or other proof of intended transport
  • Proof of means of subsistence: e.g.
    – bank account statement on the account turnover during the last three months, and
    – proof of regular income e.g. salary slips of the last three months (or similar)
  • Proof of the existence of family relations (Tam Tekmil Vukuatlı Nüfus Kayıt Örneği)
  • The following documents shall be presented by either of the categories
    (a) If the applicant is employed:
    – letter from employer and/or approval for leave
    – SGK (social security) registration document+ SGK "hizmet dökümü"
    (b) If the applicant is a farmer
    – farmer certificate issued by chamber of agriculture
    (c) If applicant is employed by or owner of a private company
    – company registration in chamber of commerce and copy of the bulletin of the trade register.
    – statement of taxes payment.
    (d) If the applicant is retired:
    – proof of pension (either bank account statement or pensioner booklet)
    (e) If the applicant is a student:
    – student certificate (Öğrenci Belgesi)
    (f) If the applicant is a minor or under age 18 and travelling alone or with one parent or legal guardian only:
    – public notary approved statement from his/her parents (this condition shall not apply if the travelling parent is a single parent or holds the parental authority alone)
  • A valid, personal medical travel insurance which covers costs for: emergency treatment by a doctor, urgent ambulance transportation and transportation back to applicant’s home country if required for medical reasons. The insurance must cover at least 30, 000 Euro and be valid in all Schengen states and cover the total length of the stay. Applicants for a visa more than two entries (multiple entries) shall prove that they are in possession of adequate and valid travel insurance covering the period of their first intended visit. Such applicants shall sign the statement (in the application form) declaring that they are aware of the need to be in possession of travel insurance for subsequent stays.
  • For Iraqi citizens the Embassy also requires all applicants to present an original national identity card.

Documents from the reference person in Sweden:

  • Invitation, completed in Swedish or English, signed and dated. The invitation should contain information about the date and the duration of the visit.
  • Population registration certificate (personbevis). This can be requisitioned from the nearest local tax office or from the website www.skv.se and should not be older than three (3) months.
  • Copy of his/her passport (or other id document).
  • If the person in Sweden is ill or pregnant , the Embassy would like a medical certificate from the doctor or midwife.

If you intend to stay in Sweden for a period longer than three months than you can apply for a D-visa. D-visa provide the same free movement within the Schengen area as a residence permit does.
