The Armory Show, the International Fair of New Art, is the world's leading art fair devoted exclusively to contemporary art. In its seventh annual exhibition, The Armory Show 05 will present 162 international galleries, including many of the most important contemporary dealers showcasing new art from around the world, on Manhattan's West Side on March 11-14, 2005.Four Swedish galleries will participate in The Armory Show 05: Andréhn-Schiptjenko, Galleri Magnus Karlsson, Galleri Charlotte Lund and Brändström & Stene.Jockum Nordström's trademark style of collages made from his own drawings is heavily influenced by both global and Swedish folk art.According to Lars Nittve, director of Moderna Museet in Stockholm, "Jockum Nordström has reclaimed two of the most modest techniques - drawing and collage - to achieve an entirely contemporary expression. ""Jockum draws influence from a variety of sources and the end result, while whimsically blending serene nature and cityscapes with retro intimacy, also displays a relentless sense of modern day alienation, " says Katelijne De Backer, director of The Armory Show.Jockum Nordström was born in 1963, graduated from Stockholm's College of Art and Design and currently lives and works in Stockholm. His work can be found in the permanent collections of the MoMA in New York, Moderna Museet and Magasin 3 in Stockholm, Greensboro Museum in North Carolina, and several other museums. He is represented by Galleri Magnus Karlsson in Stockholm and David Zwirner in New York. The Armory Show 05Piers 90 and 92Twelfth Avenue at 50th and 52nd StreetMarch 11-14, 2005For more information about The Armory Show and participating Swedish galleries:www.thearmoryshow.comwww.andrehn-schiptjenko.comwww.gallerimagnuskarlsson.comwww.gallericharlottelund.comwww.brandstromstene.seFor more information about Jockum Nordström: www.davidzwirner.comImage: © Jockum Nordström
