Electronic Applications

From and including 1 September 2004, your application can be applied via the Internet (so called e-application). All the related information and instruction as well as application form are available at the Swedish Migration Board's web site.

If you have any questions relating to e-applications, you can send your inquiry to:
migrationsverket@migrationsverket.se

or call
the Migration Board
Information Service
on +46-771-19 44 00.

Please refrain from calling the Embassy regarding e-applications as the Embassy is not authorized to take decisions in these matters.

However, if your e-application has been approved by the Migration Board in Sweden and you wish to collect your decision at the Embassy in Tokyo, you will have to come to the Embassy in person with your e-application's control number and bring your passport with you during our office hours:

9:00am—12:00pm, Monday to Friday (except Embassy holidays).

The Embassy will issue a residence permit for your passport within 5 days and you will be informed as to when you can pick up your passport at the Embassy. Should you wish your passport to be returned to you by post, please hand in a self-addressed envelope with sufficient stamps for registered mail (Kakitome—in Japanese). The Embassy is not responsible for any delay or loss that may be caused by the postal service.
