A breakfast meeting on defriefing on the Women Leadership Training in Stockholm.
Female Members of the Kenyan Parliament in Kenya met for an informal breakfast meeting on the 14 June to share the experiences from a leadership training, “To be a Woman and a Leader”, facilitated by the Embassy of Sweden in Nairobi and UN Women.

Launch of the Strategic Programme Document 2011-2013 for Police Reforms Implementation At a Breakfast Meeting in Nairobi on 10 June the Police Reform Programme 2010-2013 was launched. Sweden has supported police reforms in Kenya since 2004.

Commemoration of Dag Hammarskjöld
The World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) in collaboration with the Embassy of Sweden and the United Nations Information Centre Nairobi (UNIC) are on Tuesday 7 June 2011 hosting a high level symposium on Dag Hammarskjöld. During the day there will be a panel discussion and a reception in Nairobi as part of the symposium in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the passing of Dag Hammarskjöld, Secretary-General of the United Nations from 1953 to 1961.

Aid effectiveness in focus in Minister´s speech
Gunilla Carlsson, Sweden´s Minister for the International Development Cooperation,  held an opening speech on 30 May at an annual conference on aid and development issues. The conference is jointly arranged by the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Stockholm School of Economics. The theme was aid effectiveness.

Effective partnership with the Diaspora for development and peace building in SomaliaBetween the 16th and 17th of May the Somali Diaspora met for a Workshop in Nairobi together with the UN, other international partners and experts, civil society and the private sector. The Workshop was financed by Sweden together with Italy. Mathias Krüger, Head of Development Cooperation with Somalia at the Swedish Embassy in Nairobi, held a speech.

The Embassy of Sweden in Nairobi launched on April 29 a book with a study of its engagement with the Lake Victoria Region – “The Lake Victoria Initiative – Ten years of Sweden-EAC Partnership”. The launch took place in Kisumu.
