"Before the Frost" by Henning Mankell

"For me, Henning Mankell is by far the best writer of police mysteries today. He is in the great tradition of those whose works transcend their chosen genre to become thrilling and moral literature." - Michael Ondaatje

Internationally acclaimed author Henning Mankell has written thirty-three novels, including nine Kurt Wallander mysteries.  His books have been published in thirty-four countries and consistently top the bestseller lists in Europe, receiving major literary prizes and generating numerous international film and television adaptations.

Already an international bestseller, Mankell's latest novel, Before the Frost, is being published by The New Press in the United States.

Henning Mankell will discuss Before the Frost at Symphony Space, as part of the Thalia Book Club series, on February 2, 2005.  An actor will perform a reading from the book and the audience will be invited to join in the conversation.

On February 3, 2005, Henning Mankell will read selections from the book at Scandinavia House, immediately followed by the U.S. premiere of the Swedish feature film based on Before the Frost.  The film is directed by Swedish director Kjell-Åke Andersson and opens in theaters across Scandinavia on January 14, 2005.  The Scandinavia House screening will feature English subtitles and will be followed by a Q&A session and a book signing.
