REED focuses on five thematic areas: (i) shared naturalresources including agriculture and water, (ii) environment and climate, (iii) trade and financial sector, (iv) infrastructure, transport and energy, and (v) democracy and human rights.
The budget allocated to the REED team in 2009 is SEK 540 million and this amount includes funds for climate change and research initiatives.
A new Swedish strategy for development cooperation with regional institutions in Sub-Saharan Africa will be developed during 2009.
