Meeting Sweden at Edinburgh International Book Festival 21-23 August

This summer eight of Sweden's finest contemporary writers will be present at Edinburgh International Book Festival - the world's largest and most dynamic literary festival. Four of them are already published in English and the other four will be introduced to the UK readers for the first time. The Swedish writers will appear on stage over the weekend of 21-23 August in a unique dialogue with their UK counterparts. This is the first time there has been such a focus on Swedish writing in the UK.

Edinburgh International Book Festival, which runs from 15-31 August in Charlotte Square, comprises about 700 events. Last year 800 writers from 40 countries around the world visited Edinburgh during the two weeks in August. In 2008 the festival attracted 220.000 literature lovers from all over the world. In recognition of this remarkable annual literary event and in celebration of the city's extraordinary literary talent, Edinburgh was made City of Literature in 2004.
