About the Consulate General

Welcome to the Consulate General of Sweden in Saint Petersburg.

The Consulate General of Sweden in St. Petersburg is responsible for Sweden’s official relations with a number of counties and republics in North-West Russia. Those are: the city of Saint Petersburg, the counties of Arkhangelsk, Leningrad, Novgorod, Murmansk, Pskov, the republics of Karelia and Komi and the Nenets Autonomous District.

The work of the Consulate General includes issuing visas to Sweden, assisting Swedish parties in their contacts with the above mentioned counties and republics, overseeing the development co-operation and reporting on important issues in the district. The Consulate General is very active in the fields of promotion of Sweden and business-ties between Sweden and Russia, and concerning cultural co-operation. A total of 10 diplomats and 15 locally employed work at the mission.

The Consulate General is located on classical Swedish ground in Saint Petersburg, on the intersection between Malaya Konyshennaya Street and the Swedish Alley. The House of Sweden, where the Consulate General is situated, houses a number of other Swedish and Nordic enterprises, as well. Our closest neighbor is the old Swedish Church of Saint Catherine, with a small but lively Swedish congregation.

In Murmansk, Sweden is represented by an Honorary Consulate, under the supervision of the Consulate General in Saint Petersburg.
