Diakonia Bangladesh
Is a Swedish development organisation working in Bangladesh since 1972. Diakonia's goal is a fair and sustainable development in which living standards for the most vulnerable people are improved, and democracy, human rights and equality are respected. Diakonia does not carry out any projects of its own, but supports local partners. As these organisations are already present, the aid becomes more effective.
 
Five themes are the basis of Diakonia policy: Democratisation, Human Rights, Social and Economic Justice, Gender Equality, Pease and reconciliation.
 
Our efforts are aimed at people harmed by poverty, oppression and violence in various forms, regardless of their faith, skin colour or gender. Diakonia is cooperating with eight partners in Bangladesh – ADESH, Akota, BLAST, MKP, OWDEB, Palok, Partner and SARA.  They are working with rural and urban community, local government and different actors of civil society for instance.
