The Swedish International Development Agency's (Sida) support amounts to almost 6 million SEK over a four-year period (2004-2007) and aims at establishing two centra supporting Romas to facilitate contacts for seeking existing works and to create new opportunities mainly within the tourism sector. Training components are included, as well as micro financing through leasing schemes for equipment. The centers are established in the cities of Pazardjik and Bourgas.
Additional support within the field of development co-operation is carried out through the possibility for Bulgarians to participate in Sida's advanced international training courses within the fields of human rights and the environment.
Sweden has also participated in a number of Twinning projects financed by the European Commission in the fields of taxation, fishery, migration and structural funds policy. Since 2005, Sweden is a junior partner in a twinning project in the field of justice and home affairs.
