Facts

Residents of Guangdong, Fujian, Guangxi and Hainan shall apply at the Consulate General of Sweden in Guangzhou.

Residents of Shanghai, Jiangsu, Anhui and Zhejiang shall apply at the Consulate General of Sweden in Shanghai.

Residents of Hong Kong shall apply at the Consulate General of Sweden in Hong Kong.

Residents of other provinces than above shall apply at the Embassy of Sweden, Beijing.

Business Visa

A visa issued by a Schengen state permits free travel within the Schengen area, if not stated otherwise on the visa. A link to the countries that are included in the Schengen agreement can be found in the right margin. The maximum duration of stay is 90 days.

Competent Embassy or Consulate-General

The Embassy or Consulate-General of the country of your main destination in the Schengen area is the competent authority to deal with the application. If the main destination cannot be determined, the application should be made to the embassy of the country in which the longest visit shall be. If the visits in different Schengen countries are of equal length, the first destination should be the determining factor. The Consulate-General of Sweden in Guangzhou will handle applications from Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian and Hainan Provinces.

Visa application

Applicants with official passports (diplomatic passports, service passports, passports "for public affairs") apply for their visas via the competent Chinese Ministry or Commission. Holders of ordinary passports are in principle requested to apply in person. Applicant should also pick up the passport in person after a decision of the application is made.

Documents

  • Two sets of short-stay application forms, duly completed with two properly matching photos.

  • Three [3] photographs of passport style and size [45 x 35 mm] for all applicants, including minors. Your photograph must be:
    – colour photo, white background
    – recent and of true likeness
    – showing full face (facing the camera directly  with your eyes looking straight at the camera)
    – taken without headgear
    – head coverings and hats are only acceptable due to religious beliefs, and even then, may not cover any portion of the applicant's face
    – taken against a plain, evenly lit and light background

    Photographs that do not conform to these standards will be rejected and may cause delay in processing the application.

  • Passport, valid at least 90 days after expiration of the visa, with two photocopies of the identity pages. Please also show your old passport, if replacing the new one.

  • Original official introduction letter (in English) from the Chinese company or organization (including signature, official stamp, the address, telephone, fax, employment position of the traveler, purpose of trip, and guarantee of return) and the business license in original with one photocopy.

  • Original invitation letter from your Swedish business partner, which includes intended duration of stay, reason for stay, together with a time schedule and itinerary. This letter should include a signature, telephone and fax numbers as well as the address of the Swedish company.

  • Proof of your financial means (The required amount is 370 SEK/day planned in Sweden. This can either be a separate document or be included in the paragraph in the invitation letter or the introduction letter).

  • Original and a copy of medical insurance covering at least 30,000 Euro and covering the cost of any emergency medical treatment and/or repatriation for medical reasons. It should be valid all planned days during the visit in the Schengen area.
    Please note! The original Insurance Certificate must be shown to passport control when entering Schengen or you can be denied entrance!
  • Business license of from your Swedish partner (Registreringsbevis)
  • For other citizens: valid Chinese residence permits.
  • Two fully completed Appendix A

Additional information

  • All documents should be in either English or Swedish.

  • The visa procedure normally takes 5 working days (if the application is complete when handed in at the Consulate General).

  • You may be asked to provide an authenticated business license of your company.

  • The Consulate-General may call you back for additional documents/ interview.

  • Presentation of the above-mentioned documents doesn't automatically guarantee issuance of the visa.

Fees

The application fee is currently 60€ in local currency (eqivalent to 550 RMB).
