Business visa

A visa issued by a Schengen country permits free travel within the Schengen area, if not stated otherwise on the visa. The maximum duration of stay is 90 days.

Competent Embassy or Consulate-General

The Embassy or Consulate-General of the country of your main destination is the competent authority to deal with the application. If the main destination cannot be determined, the application should be made to the embassy of the country in which the longest visit shall be. If the visits in different Schengen countries are of equal length, the first destination shall be the determining factor.

Visa application

Applicants with official passports (diplomatic passports, service passports, passports "for public affairs") apply for their visas via the competent Chinese Ministry or Commission. Please note that holders of ordinary passports are in principle required to apply in person.

The following required documents need to be submitted in original:

  • Two completed Schengen visa application forms

  • Two passport photos taken within the past six months
    -Photos that do not conform to these standards will be rejected and may cause delay in processing the application.

  • Passport, valid at least 90 days after expiration of the visa. We only accept passports which have been signed by the holder of the passports. Non-Chinese citizens are also required to show a valid Chinese residence permit

  • Invitation letter from your Swedish business partner which must include the intended duration of stay and the reason for the visit including a time schedule and itinerary. This letter should include a signature, telephone and fax numbers as well as the address of the Swedish company and must always be submitted in original.

  • Official introduction letter from the Chinese company or organisation and should include signature, an official stamp, the address, telephone number, fax number, employment position of the traveller, purpose of trip, and guarantee of return. This document must always be submitted in original and cannot be signed by the applicant.

  • Proof of your financial means. The required amount is 370 SEK/day planned in Sweden. This can either be a separate document or be included as a paragraph in the invitation letter or the introduction letter.

  • Relevant insurance covering the journey in the Schengen area and must be valid for the entire duration of the stay, with cover of at least €30,000.00 and covering the cost of any emergency medical treatment and/or repatriation for medical reasons.


The following required documents do not need to be submitted in original:

  • A completed copy of Appendix A

  • Business licence from your Swedish partner (registreringsbevis)

  • Business licence from the applicant's company both in English and Chinese

  • Photocopy of the identity page of the applicant's passport

Additional information

  • All documents should be submitted in either English or Swedish

  • You may be asked to provide an authenticated business licence of your company

  • The Embassy may contact the applicant to request additional documents/information or to have an interview

  • Presentation of the above-mentioned documents does not automatically guarantee that a visa will be issued

  • The visa procedure normally takes about 10 working days

Fees

  • The application fee for all types of Schengen visas is 570 RMB. The fee does not vary with the duration of stay in the Schengen area or number of entries. The Embassy will only accept card payment. Please observe: cash payment can only be accepted, when card payment is not possible.
