With a raucous garage-rock sound, sharp dress and plenty of attitude, The Hives quickly achieved international superstardom on the heels of their album Veni, Vidi, Vicious, released in Sweden in 2000 and in the U.S. in 2002. With hits like "Main Offender" and "Hate to Say I Told You So", the group paved the way for a Swedish rock explosion on a global scale. After a lengthy hiatus, the band is now set to release Tyrannosaurus Hives, a long-awaited new album scheduled to hit U.S. record stores on July 20. The lead single will be "Walk Idiot Walk".Sahara Hotnights, a female quartet from Umeå in northern Sweden, have blazed a trail of their own, playing a punky straight-ahead rock tinged with influences ranging from the 70s to the 90s. They have played major venues and festivals around the world, making a splash at the Siren Festival in Coney Island, Brooklyn, in 2003 and, most recently, at the Coachella Festival in California in the spring of 2004.Their new album, Kiss and Tell, featuring the single "Hot Night Crash", will be released by RCA on July 27.In support of their new albums, the two bands will go on tour together across North America this summer, including two nights at Irving Plaza in New York City.
