Important information: visa applications for the summer 2009
The number of applications that may be handled by the Embassy per day is restricted. Since there is a certain queue, applicants who intend to visit Sweden during the summer period 2009 are encouraged to promptly book a time for submission of the application.
Please be advised that an application may be submitted at the Embassy at the earliest three months before the intended travel date. Normally, it takes approximately 7 days for an application to be processed and a decision made.
The Embassy would like to remind applicants that the application together with the supporting documentation may not be older than three months at the day of application.
Visa applications where the main purpose is to pick wild berries
The Embassy would like to advise that schengen visas may not be granted if the main purpose of the visit to Sweden is to pick wild berries against compensation. Since two years a work permit is required for such activity. Swedish companies affiliated to SBIF (Swedish Forestberries Association) invite a large amount of Thai labourers through Thai companies during the berry picking season. Recruited labourers may be granted due work permits.
For Thai citizens interested in picking berries in Sweden, more information on the procedure can be given by the Department of Employment in Thailand.www.doe.go.th www.overseas.doe.go.thPhone: 02-245 64 99, 02-245 10 34
Making an Appointment
In order to submit a visa application you must first make an appointment to visit the Embassy. Such appointments can be done through a call centre on telephone number 1900 222 202 (valid only for calls within Thailand). Calls will be charged at 9 Baht per minute. The operator who will assist in making the appointment will speak either English or Thai. The operator will also be able to answer questions regarding what documents are required as well as assist with contact details for the Embassy.
The call centre will be open Monday until Friday from 8.00 am until 7.00 pm during the high season, i.e. March until October. During the rest of the year the opening hours will be Monday until Friday from 8.00 am until 5.00 pm. The information on visa applications available on the Embassy’s web site can also be obtained through the call centre by means of pre-recorded voice messages on an automatic answering machine, in English, Thai or Swedish, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. These calls also cost 9 Baht per minute.
It will be possible to make an appointment by visiting the Embassy personally Monday, Tuesday and Thursday between 2.00 and 3.00 pm. It will, however, not be possible to make appointments directly through the Embassy via telephone, e-mail or text messages. Personal visits to the Embassy will not result in any kind of preferential treatment, such as being given priority in the queue, in relation to those making appointments through the call centre.
Application Fee
The application fee charged is linked to the Euro and varies in relation to major fluctuations in the exchange rate. The call centre will inform the applicant of the current fee when making an appointment. The current fee applicable can be found on the Embassy’s web site under the heading >Schengen Visa Application Fee in the right margin. The fee must be paid and a receipt must be included in the visa application submitted to the Embassy. The fee must be paid at the UOB bank branch in Bangok. The fee can not be paid through an ATM. There is a UOB bank branch located close to the Embassy, in the lobby of Two Pacific Place. It should be paid to account number 095-2-05431-0 and made payable to account holder “Embassy of Sweden”. The Embassy does not charge any other fees than the visa application fee which the applicant pays directly to the bank.

Only applicants who have made an appointment will be given admittance to the relevant Visa Section of the Embassy. The application will be registered and a check made that all necessary supporting documentation has been provided. If the application is incomplete, or if necessary supporting documentation has not been provided, the application can be rejected. Should an applicant fail to appear at the appointed time, then a new appointment must be made.

Visa agencies
Please note that the Embassy is located on the 20th floor at One Pacific Place. There are several private companies in the same building offering their services to visa applicants, but the Embassy has no link to these companies and the applicants are free to chose if they want to use the services of a company or deal directly with the Embassy. The applications must however always be submitted personally by the applicant. The application will be treated in the same manner regardless if the applicant has used a company or not.
