An application form for a Swedish driver's license can be obtained from the Embassy of Sweden in Washington D.C. or from any of the Swedish consulates in the U.S.You must complete the application yourself and submit it along with photographs to the Swedish National Road Administration (Vägverket). When your new driver's license has been issued, you may pick it up at the consular location you've indicated in your application. The fee for a new driver's license is $40. In addition, a $25 processing fee applies upon pick-up of the license. Applicants picking up a new license in New York may pay both fees at once. The Consulate General of Sweden in New York accepts Visa, MasterCard and money orders. Cash or personal checks are not accepted. Applicants picking up at another consular location must first pay the $40 by money order to the Consulate General of Sweden in New York. The new license is then sent to the desired consular location for customer pick-up, where the $25 processing fee is payable in cash.In either case, if the license has already been paid for in Sweden, only the $25 processing fee applies.
