About the Embassy

Welcome to the Embassy of Sweden in Vienna, Austria. The Swedish Embassy represents the Swedish government in Austria and is at the same time the permanent representation of Sweden at the United Nations' offices in Vienna.

The main duty of our embassy is to strengthen the relations between Sweden and Austria, to spread information on Sweden and to support Swedish interests and activities in Austria.

The Swedish consulate in Vienna is part of the embassy. The consular department works with visa-applications, residence and working permits. Swedish citizens may renew their driving licences and passports. Besides that the consular department helps with questions about citizenship and marriage.

The Swedish Embassy and the Swedish consulate are situated at the Danube Channel in the blue Wiener Städtische-building. Address: Obere Donaustrasse 49-51, 1020 Vienna (Underground U2/U4 Schottenring, one station with tram 31 to "Obere Donaustrasse"). At the entrance you will receive a visitor's card so that you can come up and visit us on the 7th floor.
